Sweet
and gentle Finn needed kind and patient owners to help him blossom.
He has been adopted by a lovely couple who lead a quiet life and
are looking forward to helping Finn regain his confidence. Congratulations
Finn!
I wanted
to tell you about getting ready for the new addition to our family.
Monday was spent at various pet stores (like shopping for a new
baby). We got him a matching collar and leash, new "plaid"
bed, various toys and treats, dog food and signed him up for classes
starting next week. We plan to take our 6 year old granddaughter
Taylor to obedience school with us (hey, the classes may rub off
on her too!) so she understands how to talk with Finnegan, and praise
him for his good behaviour. Finnegan was wonderful in the car on
the way home, sat nicely in the back with Taylor. The 2 of them
got along famously. Once we arrived in the 'burbs, we all went for
a walk in the rain. Finnegan was wonderful on the lead and very
accepting of his new family. Once we got home, Taylor and I brushed
him - he loved it. Turned in about 10pm, with a lie down and stay
to Finnegan on his new bed. He didn't move all night.
Day 2: Taylor still sleeping so Bill took Finnegan for the morning
walk, they both came back bright eyed and bushy tailed! We are off
this week, so Finnegan is getting truly spoiled, he went for 4 long
walks yesterday! We did leave him alone for about 4 hours in the
early afternoon, as we didn't want him to think we were around all
the time. He was an angel! At dinner time, our daughters came to
meet him - there was a little excitement with all the coming and
going so moved Finnegan downstairs for a breather (this entails
going out the back door, around the house and around to the front
door) as he definately was not prepared to go anywhere near the
main stairs in the house. The joke was on us, he didn't need a breather
at all. I came upstairs, and he followed about 5 minutes later.
Bill
puttered around a bit this morning, and now he and Finnegan are
out in the back garden. We have made an appointment for his stitches
to be removed, and a grooming appointment for him on Friday, (he
has such a thick coat, I'm sure he must feel awfully warm in our
milder climate) and he starts obedience classes on Tuesday.
I must
say, we haven't laughed as much (just for the joy of it) in a long
time. Finnegan is delightful and I'd like to thank you for rescuing
him. He is a wonderful addition to our family!
