THE CANWEST PET EXPO MAKES STARS OUT OF TDBCR AND ITS DOGS!

Both rescue dog Ru and foster dog Cha Cha made Global News on Sunday, March 20th, 2005!

Rescue Remedy flyball team puts on a great demo for the crowd and shows how racing is done!

Two club members did interviews for both radio and print about That'll Do Border Collie Rescue!

Rescue dog Ru and rescue dog Heidi wowed the crowds with the Paws Ahead agility demo!

A great weekend was had by all! We handed out hundreds and hundreds of informative pamphlets and talked to hundreds and hundreds of people about border collies, rescue and the importance of neutering your dog. We raised money for the rescue and spent hours amusing visitors with the antics of our lovely foster dogs.

Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers who staffed the booth, paraded rescue dogs around and talked to people until their voices gave out. What a great weekend!

Thank you to Alison, Cheryl, Dana, Dove, Hilary, Joanne, JoDene, Sandy and Soctt for staffing the booth throughout the weekend!

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO RUEDI AND HIS SIDEKICK MAGGIE MAY, A TDBCR RESCUE!

On Saturday February 12th 2005, Kelpie mix Maggie May was awarded the "Bel Ade Trophy" by the Nanaimo Kennel Club - an award for the dog who has had the most qualifying runs in a single year in agility (beginning at a Starter's Level). In 2004, Maggie May qualified in an astonishing 23 runs!! The NKC believes this is the highest number of qualifying runs achieved by any dog in the history of the trophy. CONGRATULATIONS TO RUEDI AND MAGGIE MAY!

Maggie May came to TDBCR from the Vancouver SPCA where she had been surrendered by her owners for dubious reasons. Maggie had been teased and taunted and treated badly in her prior life and was fearful and underconfident. Her foster dad, Ruedi, TDBCR's Island Coordinator and one of our biggest supporters, saw that Maggie only needed confidence and training. He officially adopted Maggie and set about reforming her view of the world. Today Maggie is a social, outgoing dog harbouring none of her old fears and insecurities. She accomplished her 23 qualifying runs in her first 18 months with Ruedi!
