A PAGE DEDICATED TO ALL THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO HAVE HELPED US HELP RESCUE DOGS ...

When the handsome Sky came into TDBCR care, we learned that his charming underbite was actually a painful deformity that was causing decay in the roof of his mouth where his lower canines were slowly drilling holes into the flesh there.

We learned that surgery for Sky would be required, to file down his lower canine teeth and then cap them so they wouldn't be left open to infection or injury. And an orthopedist specialist was the only one who could do the job. The result was a $1,000.00 estimate that we despaired of being able to raise.

But we should have known that people will pull together when a rescue dog is in need, and with the help of some wonderful people, we raised the money for Sky's surgery!

THANKS TO ALL THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO DONATED MONEY TOWARD HIS SURGERY, SKY WAS FIXED RIGHT UP! Sky had his surgery and all went well. Thanks to Dr. Legendre and the staff at Animal Critical Care for their work!

We also want to thank the Dog Agility Work Group (DAWG) on Vancouver Island, for generously offering to host a raffle at their next trial, with the proceeds going toward Sky's dental surgery!

THANK YOU TO

Sandy, who found us the surgeon to get the job done, and set up Sky's appointment!

Sarah, Alison, Karyn, Tia, Hilary, Catherine, Rhonda and Kathy for each donating $100.00 toward Sky's surgery!

And to Ruedi, for donating $150.00 toward Sky's surgery, and for bringing him over to Animal Critical Care in Burnaby to get the surgery done!

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!

Mostly deaf senior border collie Nola was deliberately abandoned in a Vancouver Park to fend for herself. A kind passerby took her in and Nola spent a week at Animal Control before she was released to rescue. This sweet old lady is a wonderfully fun and affectionate companion, and we knew she deserved better!

While in foster care, we learned Nola had never been spayed and was in season. Because of her advanced age, we were worried about putting her under anasthetic, and so was our veterinarian. After rounds of blood tests and check ups, the Doc finally determined that it was time for Nola to go under.

We're happy to say that Nola emerged with flying colours and is back to her happy old lady self. But the costs to make sure she was healthy and able to withstand surgery, and the cost of surgery itself was not inexpensive ... We charge only a nominal fee for our senior dogs, but Nola's vet bills came to about $400.00

Once again, the community came through, and thanks to the generosity of the following people, we raised over $250.00 toward her surgery!
