If you are unable to keep your border collie and are looking to place him or her in foster care with TDBCR, please use the form below to contact us.
TDBCR will not purchase your dog, your litter or your breeding pair. TDBCR is a rescue organization, not a dog broker. We will absolutely consider your request for help, but we do not compensate individuals for surrendering dogs. We will also not 'sell' your dog on your behalf; all monies from adoption fees go back to the rescue dog fund, not to previous owners.
TDBCR rescues single breed border collies, or visually high content mixes only. Regrettably we cannot assist dogs who do not look like border collies, or who have very low border collie content, or whom are not border collies at all. We have few foster spaces to spare, and we regret that we cannot rescue every dog that needs help.
TDBCR cannot accept every dog. If our foster homes are full, we are then at capacity and will not be able to take your dog in. We also generally cannot take a dog "immediately" so expect a few days to pass between when you contact us, and if and when we can take possession of your dog.
TDBCR regrets that for liability reasons, we cannot list your dog for you on our website. We only place dogs that have been evaluated by one of our volunteers for a minimum period of time, so we are not able to list your private rehome on our listings, or crosspost dogs in other rescues or shelters.
You will be required to sign a surrender form that releases all ownership of your dog to TDBCR. This is a legally binding document, so you must be over 19 years of age to surrender a dog to us.
Please respect our time. If you are not really serious about surrending your dog, or if you have contacted multiple parties to take your dog please understand that we spend a significant amount of time and energy finding appropriate foster spots for each incoming dogs and making the necessary arrangements. There are lots of dogs that need help, and our time is best spent offering our energies to dogs who are going to utilize our servies.
When you surrender a dog to TDBCR, you can rest assured that your dog will find a new, excellent home thanks to our thorough screening process and committment to every dog we place. Your dog will always have a home with TDBCR in the event that the adoptive home does not work out for any reason.
TDBCR cannot guarantee that the new owners of your dog will want to be in touch with you, as this is largely up to the new owner. However, when possible we will forward updates to you from the new home to let you know how the dog is doing.
TDBCR does not euthanize dogs for lack of space, but in the event a surrendered dog proves to be a danger to himself or people, is fatally ill, or is otherwise deemed to not be a candidate for a safe placement, we may choose humane euthanasia for the dog. Therefore, we encourage you to be honest about your dog's temperament and health when you surrender him to us, so all parties are well informed about the dog's adoption potential.
We cannot accept your dogs from out of country or from overseas! Please locate a rescue in your area for assistance.
